Every business owner has a duty of care - you must carry out a fire risk assessment which must focus on the safety in case of fire of all 'relevant persons'. The main effect of the changes will be a move towards greater emphasis on fire prevention in all non-domestic premises. Existing fire certificates will be abolished and will cease to have legal status.
Fire Risk Assessments: It's the law - in October 2006 the existing fire safety laws changed, requiring all business owners to do a fire risk assessment. This new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, or RRFSO, affests all non-domestic premises in England and Wales.
